We are Owen and Jenell DeGraffenried. We live in South Central Utah at the foot of the Pahvant Mountains on the outskirts of a little town called Kanosh (named after Chief Kanosh, a Piute Indian). It’s a beautiful little community with a little store, one gas station, a nice fishing stream, and the best people in the world.
Owen has his degree in education and is “the History & Spanish department” at the local middle school for 7th and 8th graders. He loves to study religion, history, liberty, and about animals. His spare time is spent with his family, the dogs, the community, and working with is dad on the farm and ranch. Jenell is a full time mother for our children, a sports enthusiast, website designer, and works with the young women in our church. She’s the glue that holds things together. Our children are full time children who play a huge part in our lives and in the lives of our dogs and puppies. They are learning to work early in life.
From their childhood, both Owen and Jenell have been in a ranching and farming environment. Between us we have raised dogs, horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, cats, and even a pet raven. Our natural favorites are of course dogs and horses.
We feel like dogs were specially made to mend the soul and express what is good and beautiful in our world. Their loyalty and happiness make us want to be better people. That’s probably the reason why we enjoy placing puppies into homes so much – they have so much to give to others.
A Labrador Retriever can be a perfect family friend in every way. Because getting a new puppy for your home is such a big commitment, we’ve spared no expense in finding the perfect dogs for our kennel and have absorbed countless hours of advice from other lifelong breeders in developing our program. Genetic research and personality testing has been a must to make sure the puppies we raise will live long, healthy, and happy lives. We urge others to not be involved as dog breeders until they understand and accept all the responsibility that it entails.
